FAQ's

1. How does my restaurant sign up for a particular award category?
You cannot enter just one of the categories that relate to restaurants, you simply get your loyal customers to nominate for you to enter The Legacy of Taste. The quantity of votes you receive and your location will determine your eligibility for consideration across the different categories.
2. Do my customers have to vote via digital means (Legacy of Taste website or the Facebook voting app)?
Yes, all votes have to be submitted via either the Legacy of Taste website or the Tsingtao Facebook page www.facebook.com/tsingtaouk
3. Can I self promote my restaurant during the voting stage?
Yes. You can self promote through your website, local press, word of mouth, social media channels etc. You can also access website banners, A3 posters, A5 flyer and A7 call to action cards via our promotional material page to promote your restaurant.
4. Can my customers vote my restaurant more than once?
No. Each customer is entitled to only one vote. We do put in place quite stringent tests to check that votes are valid.
5. What am I to say to my customers during the voting stage?
Encourage them to visit the voting page or the Facebook voting page and vote for you as their favourite Chinese restaurant. You can also make your customers aware of the competition when they are within the restaurant.
6. Will my business appear on the Legacy of Taste website?
If your restaurant reaches the voting stage and is within the top 10 your restaurant name will be shown on the website.
7. Will my customers details be used by third party companies?
No. We do not share any details with any third party companies.
8. When will the voting stage end?
The voting stage will end on Sunday 18th November 2012.
9. How will I know if my restaurant is successful in getting through to the voting stage?
If you are one of the top nominated restaurants you will receive a kit in the post containing, posters, table talkers and call to action cards. Please use these to self-promote and make your customers aware of your nominated status, encourage them and their friends to vote for you.
10. Can my customers vote for my restaurant more than once?
No. They can only vote for your restaurant once.
11. If I am successful in getting through to the final three restaurants, what happens then?
You will be contacted by the Legacy of Taste team who will liaise with you regarding your judging date plus what is expected of you. You will also receive a booklet to outline these details and timings. The Legacy of Taste PR team will also work with you to maximise your restaurant exposure.
12. What will I be judged on if my restaurant makes it through to the judging stage?
Your restaurant will be judged on its atmosphere, service, professionalism, and of course its food. You are encouraged to create a dining experience for the judges. This could include your best selling dish/s, your signature dish, a range of dishes. The experience is down to you.

14. Is the competition advertised or in the press?
Yes. The competition is heavily promoted via PR, press releases, social media and the Legacy of Taste website.
15. Are there any do's and dont's?
You and your customers are not permitted to use false email addresses or any other underhand means by which you can collate votes. If we suspect this has occurred or any other "foul play" the Legacy of Taste team reserves the right to remove any entered restaurant from the competition.
16. Can I enter the free prize draw if I own or manage the restaurant?
All voters are entered into the prize draw.
17. Will we be supplied with Tsingtao Beer?
No. You can however organise Tsingtao beer stock through Halewood International
18. Can I promote the competition and encourage our customers through our own social media channels?
Yes. You can encourage your customers to vote through the Legacy of Taste social media channels as well as your own.
19. What does the winner get?
The winner will be crowned the Legacy of Taste champion, presented with a trophy, and benefit extensively from PR coverage and the legacy of being included in one of only 5 restaurants in the UK to have this accolade.
20. Does it cost me any money to enter?
No it does not cost anything to enter other than the provision of a dining experience for our judging panel should you be successful in getting to that stage. All reasonable expenses and overnight accommodation will be paid for at the Awards Event for those finalists restaurants.
21. When is the awards event?
The awards event is Thursday 31st January 2013.
22. Am I able to find out who voted for me?
No. The voters details are confidential.
23. Am I able to vote myself if I own, work or run in the restaurant?
Yes. You can vote for yourself - this is limited to one vote per person.
24. What constitutes a restaurant?
Restaurants must contain a dining area where customers pay to sit and eat meals that are prepared and served on the premises.
